Episode Two - February 2010 - Love

Dah dah!! This is DJ 愛迷 Amy and welcome to the second episode of 愛love and surprise surprise the theme is Love!! I decided to only use songs about love but hey that didn't narrow it down enough. I then decided to only use songs which have the word 'Love' in the title, okay I know one doesn't but that's an exception!
The last song (which also lacks love in the title) is a tribute to how most of us were probably feeling!!
Did you all have a good Valentine's day yesterday? I did although tragically nothing to do with love.
^Sighs^ Maybe next year people!

Here is the track listing of this episode:
> T.T.L (Time to love)[feat. Supernova] by 티아라 T-ara
> Love love love by 에픽하이 Epik High
> うるわしきひと [Beautiful Person] by いきものがかり Ikimono Gakari
> Love like this by SS501
> 越來越愛 [Love You More and More] by 飛輪海 Fahrenheit
> G.O.O.D Luv by MBLAQ
> 우리 사랑하게 됐어요 [We fell in love] by 가인 & 조권 Ga-in and Jo-kwon
> 爱我 [Love Me] by Danson 唐禹哲
> 외톨이야 [I'm a loner] by C.N.BLUE

My Dad was an Evil Dictator [aka: Honesty] - Chapter Two

XVII. The Star

I'm assuming most of you know who I am or else you wouldn’t have picked up this book.
I wouldn’t have.
I was born Park Jung-Hyo as the third son of Park Jung-Il, and his second mistress. Park Jung-Il was himself born to Park Il-Beom. They were leaders of Chosen, or what you English speakers would call North Korea. Heard of it?
Yeap. The title of this book should be ‘My Daddy was a vicious Dictator’. Ah well, too bad I didn’t call it that. Shit, my Editor probably will change it for me…
So if you are still reading this and haven’t yet gone ‘communist scum’ or something like that then congrats, you are indeed open minded (or just stupid).
I hope I can surprise you with my awesomeness and humanity.
Guessing not humility.
I'm not gonna tell you anymore about me ‘cos I can’t be bothered, wait… sorry, ‘cos I’d give away the plot.
So let’s begin.
****
When I woke up the next day it wasn’t by choice. I groaned. So much for total freedom.
“How did you get in here?”
Somebody grinned and waved a set of keys. I fell back into bed.
“Leave me alone” I moaned through my pillow.
“Sorry. No can do.” Junan announced.
“Just wake up you fucking lazy idiot.” So J.J had come after all. He’d threatened that he wouldn’t.
I opened my eyes fully and glared at my so called ‘friends’. The ever emotionless Hyun-jun smiled slightly. Junan laughed. Bastards.
I fell back into my bed and smiled. Why was I so concerned? I could get their asses kicked all the way back home.
“I'm not getting up.” They sniggered.
“And? What are you gonna do to us?” Junan asked. They laughed harder. Well, Hyun-jun cracked a small smile.
“Shut up”
J.J rolled his eyes. “It’s Two O’clock already. Are you planning to do anything today?”
“No”
They sighed in a resigned way. I really hate my ‘friends’ sometimes.
Unfortunately my ‘dear friends’ decided to not let me have my beauty sleep and dragged me out.
****
To stop this from getting to self-centered (my propaganda person/spin doctor/publicist said it was a good idea to appear likable) I will now introduce some of the other characters that make up this ‘caper’.
****
Eun-sun looked around. She should be here by now. Eun-sun told herself to relax, her plane was probably delayed. She anxiously waved the sign she had written carefully.
“Hana!” She squealed. Yes, Eun-sun really does squeal. It’s mega weird but some think it’s cute. Strange people.
“Hey” The diminutive American replied. Hana’s always had a thing about her height. 5’ 4” is apparently too small even through it’s the average height in America. I wouldn’t know through. I’ve always been tall for my age and area.
Eun-sun ran forwards and hugged the incomer.
“You’re late! I was worried about you.”
“Dear god Eun-Sun I am…” Checks watch. “only an hour late…” She trails off. Determined to never give in she continues. “You shoulda waited at least another quarter hour before panicking.”
Eun-Sun smiled. Hana was exactually how she’d imagined from the letters.
****
Hana and Eun-Sun, my friends and me weren’t the only ones who’d been unleashed on the unsuspecting city of Seoul. Nope.
An eighteen year old girl by the name of Dong Gyeoul was also in the process of settling down but for her this was going to be a tough process. She was Korean but not Korean. She only spoke and wrote Korean but she was a foreigner.
A Northerner. She had been brought up in the Juche ‘religion’. She would probably never fit in.
But this hadn’t occurred to her yet. Today was a good day. The start of her new life. She had just left Hanawon Resettlement Center where’d she’d been given crash courses in how to survive a land with computers, Banks and prejudice. She had been informed about politics and other such baffling matters. She and the others had been taken to the best and worst of South Korea. This was suppose to let new defectors see that South Korea isn’t as amazing as they though it would be but Dong Gyeoul was reluctant to give up her rose tinted glasses just yet. She probably didn’t even care whether she had them or not. Besides, as Hana would say, pink tinted glasses are fashionable.
****
The two girls were too busy giggling to notice immediately. It took a while before one of them stopped and gasped. She hit the girl next to her in her excitement.
“That girl…” She whispered pointing to a pretty girl in front of them. The second girl almost screamed in surprise. This was all the confirmation the first girl needed.
“Autumn-unni!” They screamed at the girl (who nearly jumped out of her skin) several years younger then them. The receiver of this burst of incomprehensible sound turned towards them in surprise.
“Umm… Hello.”
“Unni we are your biggest fans!” by this time over people in the music shop had turned to watch. There was a sudden outburst of whispering. Autumn with her overgrow haircut flushed the same color as her hair used to be – and still was in the girls imagination.
“Ah, she’s that girl…”
“Wasn’t she in that…”
“Oh, I think she’s that singer from years ago…”
“Oh my god, she was one of them that did that!”
The girl accused of being ‘that singer’ who did ‘that’ flushed an even deeper red.
“I didn’t think she lived in Seoul.”
“I know! If I was her I would be too embarrassed…”
“I would have killed myself.”
There was a faint laughter. Autumn put on a fake smile which she was tragically good at.
“Would you like me to sign anything?”
The girls nodded and Autumn scribbled a quick note.
Dear my number one fans!
Thanks for your faith. Autumn will come around again.
Love, Autumn xxxx

The Girls squealed. Autumn smiled at her observers. So this is what Seoul would be like? She sighed (mentally) and resolved to wear mega gigantic sunglasses in the future.
****
Standing in the city center we stared around looking a bit bewildered.
“Um… so where do you want to go?” J.J asked uncertainly. We laughed nervously. Our first day of freedom and we were failing already. Only I had been outside of the North any major amount of time (‘cept Hyun-jun but he didn’t count) and I had been very strictly controlled. None of us knew Seoul so we hadn’t a clue what to do.
“We should find a music shop” Hyun-jun (un)helpfully contributed. We groaned.
“No!” We replied immediately.
“How about we…” pause “I dunno…” I had been looking around for something, anything I recognized. “Holy crap it’s McDonalds! We’re going there.”
Three sets of eyes glanced uncertainly back at me. I laughed.
“You’ve never been there have you?”
Nods.
“There isn’t a branch in Pyongyang.” J.J stated rather obviously.
“It’s fun and the food is…” Pause. “Actually better not think about the food.” Junan grinned.
“It’ll be fun. A new experience.” He decided. Pause again.
“What could be more symbolic of western capitalist society?” I added.
We went.
I suppose I should explain my last statement. Hyun-jun would have gone if we had. He just seems to follow whatever we do. Junan was going just for the hell of it. This only left J.J (I swear his name should be the problem) who is an anarchist and part-time communist and by that I mean a real one and not the fake ones we have up north. He was now going purely to reinforce how shit it would be.
Well, no offence, but it would be.
****
Hana looked around unimpressed with her new home.
“It’s a bit boring.” She decreed. And a bit small she thought but decided not to add.
“We can make it more interesting.” Eun-sun added cheerfully, which was of course perfectly true. They could. Hana smiled. Being Eun-sun’s flatmate would be fun. She sighed. Eun-sun watched her nervously.
“As I only came to Seoul today I didn’t get much of a chance to view it beforehand.” Eun-sun informed her.
“It’s fine.” Hana replied detached. She paused. “Did you find some nightclubs nearby?”
“Um… no. They’re not really my kind of thing. But I suppose Itaewon would be worth a try..”
“Itaewon? Isn’t that just stupid guys who wanna have sex?”
“I don’t really know.” Eun-sun replied honestly.
“They must be really pathetic if they need to pay..”
“Eh?”
“Well, there’s always plenty of girls willing to have one night stands so why would anyone pay?”
“Umm… most girls don’t really do that kind of thing...”
“They don’t?” Hana replied genuially puzzled.
“Well, at least I don’t.”
****
Gyeoul switched on light. If flickered half-heartedly before blaring into life. She had thought several years ago when she arrived in China she’d never get used to having electricity all the time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
But she had. Surprisingly fast she accepted electricity as a right. Food had taken longer but now she couldn’t imagine life constantly hungry. Her previous life seemed a distant dream, someone else’s life.
Focusing on the present again she looked at her new home. Her’s. It wasn’t massive and there was a thick layer of dust. She wasn’t going to complain. She was glad she had come here alone as she dropped her suitcase (her only processions) and sunk to the floor and wept. She cried and cried until she was too exhausted to cry any more. She lay on her back and stared at the grey ceiling. She lay there motionless hiccupping slightly until it seemed the ceiling was falling and going to crush her. She blinked and sat up and saw the beige walls. They were so depressing. She stood up suddenly and decided to explore. She entered her bedroom and saw the bed and paint she’d picked out. She sat on the bed. It wasn’t particularly comfortable but hey, it was better than anything she’d before.
****
Autumn stared at the photo. Wow, they’d all looked so different. Well, she’d never be able to tell for one of them. She wondered how the others were doing.
She looked at the red haired girl with the bob. She was unrecognizable. She couldn’t even understand that girl, what she’d done.
What was wrong with her? She couldn’t even understand herself.

My Dad was an Evil Dictator (Chapter One)

0. The Fool

In a book about a horrific - hmm, more like - the worst place to live in the world (hell on earth and shit like that) what do you expect it to be about?
Wait, scrap that. Let’s just think about in a book full stop.
Like, number one, a likable main character.
Number two… an uplifting story.
I am sure there are many others I am forgetting at this precise moment however I can only promise one thing.
They are defiantly not going to be found in this particular book.
I should know.
I'm the particular anti-hero of this particular tragic tale of love.

Fresh Starts

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!!
I seriously hope this is a better year.
Anyway, did you all make resolutions? I did. This is one of them.
Yeap, my new years resolution was to run a podcast and publish an original story -which hopefully people won't find too weird. Strange, huh?
Ah well.
Hope you enjoy.
